3D Art Developer (XR Projects)

We are seeking a talented individual to co-lead the development of diverse, cutting-edge XR pilot projects. This role is ideal for recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience, and does not require extensive work history. This is a full-time position. Hybrid working is possible, but we expect a minimum of 50% presence at the office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Game Engines: Primarily work with Unity, while also using Unreal Engine and various web technologies on select projects.
• Project Diversity: Lead and contribute to projects spanning construction, automotive, education, healthcare, culture, and tourism sectors.
• Task Management: Prioritize, estimate, and handle multiple tasks across several projects.
• Team Leadership: Co-lead the development team, supporting project assistants and working closely with project managers and R&D lead. Interact with clients and collaborators, presenting ideas and outcomes in English.
• Participate in: Helsinki XR Center's activities, including organizing showroom visits, workshops, afterwork events, and larger exhibitions like MatchXR.

Essential Skills:

• 3D Generalist: Solid skills in 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation.
• XR Enthusiast: A passion for XR technologies (VR, AR, MR).
• Tech Stack: Proficiency with Blender / Maya, Substance Painter, and Unity.
• Problem Solver: Self-starter, capable of learning new tools and solving technical challenges independently.
• Leadership Experience: Experience managing projects, whether in academia, hobbies, or professionally.
• Multitasking: Manage multiple projects with quick turnarounds (typically under 6 months) without the need for crunch time.
• Strong Communication: Comfortable providing feedback to others and leading discussions.

Portfolio Expectations:

• 3D models with clean topology and UV maps.
• At least one rigged and animated character or asset.
• Game-optimized models (characters and environments).
• 2D drawings or concept art showcasing your creative process.

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with terms like vertex color, webGL, glTF, texel density, lightmaps, Nanite, LOD, and CAD.
• Bonus points for skills in Adobe Suite, Unreal Engine, Unity Shader Graph, Git version control, game design, Magic the Gathering, UI/UX design, Figma, SFX skills, Zbrush, 3D printing, AI tools, or coding.
